A month-to-month tenant's termination letter is given to a landlord by a month-to-month tenant in order to put the landlord on notice that the Tenant will be leaving the rental unit upon a specific date, usually occurring at the end of the rental term. Most states and rental agreements require that the landlord receive this letter in order to end the lease. Create your own month-to-month tenant's termination letter with LegalNature by following the instructions below.
You will begin by listing:
It is important to include the forwarding address for the tenant to receive his or her security deposit back. If the tenant doesn’t have a new address yet, then you can use the address of a friend or family member.
Next, you will enter some relevant dates pertaining to your notice. Where it asks for the date on which you plan to send the notice, feel free to leave that question blank and fill it in at a later time if you don’t yet know when it will be. Enter the date on which your lease agreement went into effect when prompted for the lease agreement date.
Usually this date is specified near the top of the agreement. If not, use the date next to the signature line of the last party to sign. Just enter “N/A” if you never executed a lease agreement with the landlord. Finally, enter the date on which your lease term will end. Again, you should be able to find this information in the lease agreement.
On the final step you will select whether or not you want to be present for the move-out inspection. Landlords by law must do such an inspection in order to subtract any amounts from your security deposit due to damages. It is a good idea to attend the move-out inspection in order to help you avoid having unexpected deductions from your deposit and so that you will have the opportunity to dispute any damage claims by the landlord. Upon selecting “Yes,” you can enter your preference for when you would like the inspection to occur. Although not required to do so, your landlord should notify you if he or she intends to inspect at a different time.
After that, you’re done! If you selected to be present for the move-out inspection, send the notice to your landlord and keep checking in until you are told when it will occur.
